a poem by the tired, as evidenced.

converging under streetlights

long past diurnal reserves long spent,

something silent woke again.

beyond the streets it crept.

dragging with it wishes

lost now sleep and lost are dreams.

now a slinker in the forest

many miles from heavenly.

so although i’m exhausted

i must watch and stay awake

because you see, the forest,

comes as far as my front gate.

  1. Reblogged this on Gemini's Lament and commented:

Okay, so I’m reblogging one of my own. Take it!
When I first wrote this one I thought it was awful.
Read it this morning and had second thoughts.
So on to the front of the line while I’m still enjoying it.
