On Shedding the Past

Shed your past like
Leaves
In the fall.
Do not let
Phantastic ghosts
Turn to
Ironic paracletes
In the hall.
Do not go on
With
Greenest
Leaves still
Holding on,
Straining, trying
To cling to it all.
Striding past walls
Of onyx and gold.
But is it not
The unspoken
To cherish the old?
