Succubus

You’re behind the wheel and
I’m caught up in the spokes.
Feel the crack of broken bones
As I’m driven fucking crazy
For your vanity alone.
We know how the story goes.
Girl meets boy,
Girl’s new toy.
She pulls him down below,
And all my little cells
Are caught in the afterglow.
This is where she strikes and
I reap what she sews,
A thousand times over.
Still I can’t go.

Yggdrasil

Our happy home
It sits alone
On knolls of blue and green.
The residence
Has left its mark
Of grave insanity.
The archive waits
Under our feet
With growl and pitch and heave.
The one who goes
Ten lengths below
Is blind to daylight things.
What lives in there
Is monstrous stare
With claws that cease to gleam
In darkest night.
Check your delights
Below the old ash tree.

You.

You are the brightest star in a long night sky.
You bless the ground and the air and the flash in my eyes.
You move me clear to believe in the first dawn of spring.
Come and find me where vines grow and strangle the trees.

I never had the will to listen.
You see, I’ve just been so forlorn and grief stricken.

All along the long while
Your voice was all I wanted.
Sadly I’m in silence.
You have only left me haunted.

Boredom

Quizzical words follow
Double-edged meanings.
Apocalypse shells cover
Sweet night dreaming.
Sunrise bombshell a
Sunset bred rapture.
In the well of denial,
The lines I once captured.
The ferryman finds madness
Over lesser paid wives.
The whole thing spells out trouble
For any husband left alive.

Time’s a River

What waters slip past
This turn of the stream?
Rock and root arranged
And placed precisely.
The stream is not the path
That wends through root and clay.
The stream is just the water
That finds its trail this way.
What waters caress
As they slide on by?
One drop might touch the shore
Until another takes its try.
Meanwhile an appearance
Of a permanence remains,
Though every time we glimpse her
She is never quite the same.
Where we once wet our feet
Has long since gone away.
Currents stole the memory of
My river that couldn’t stay.

My Sunrise

The sunrise comes in softly,
And buffets the night clouds
Into infinite sky.
The colors whisper aesthetics
Blending odds and ends
Where anything goes.
It was your presence
That rounded the edges
Transforming jagged truth into
Gentle reality.
The tumbled emerald of my eyes
Reflects in mellow light
As it’s bounced back,
Changing my world to clement sunrises.
You’re a soft glow angel
And the world is sufferable
As your hazy light sunrise transpires.
I won’t forget how the darkness retreated
Amidst your misty ascension.
The whole world sighs relief
When you rearrange the heavens.
I’ll never sleep through another sunrise
Again.
