Walking on Water

I’ve been walking on water
All the days of my life.
Treading through the storm
In the midst of the night.
There are no paths
To light my way,
No footprints left
Behind my wake.
In my heart
I feel alone,
And that’s the truth
For all I know.
For when I grow afraid
And begin to sink,
I can find no hand
To rescue me.
I’m drowning
In a sea of snakes.
No wine to drink.
No bread to break.

  2. It’s such a beautiful piece for the almost desperate sadness it evokes. I love the wordplay here. Amazing.
